Nelson Marques

MS, RD, LD, CSSD

Nelson is a registered dietitian and performance nutrition specialist serving as the tactical and performance dietitian for the United States Air Force at Patrick Air Force Base. He fuels AFSPECWAR (Air Force Special Warfare) operators — pararescuemen, combat controllers, tactical air control party, and special reconnaissance — designing nutrition strategies for the most demanding operational environments on earth.

Before his work with special operations, Nelson built his expertise in professional combat sports, working with UFC fighters and MMA athletes on weight management, fight camp nutrition, and acute weight cuts. His background also spans collegiate athletics and published research on ergogenic aids in competitive athletes.

Nelson holds a Master of Science degree and multiple advanced credentials in sports and performance nutrition. He founded Marques Performance Systems, LLC in February 2026 to scale the systems and methodologies he developed in the field — making elite-level nutrition accessible through technology, education, and evidence-based products.
